American Buff goose is a dual-purpose breed. It is raised for meat production and eggs. The American Buff goose is a strain of goose from the United States.
It’s descended from the wild Greylag goose, which is located in Europe and Northern Asia. It is named for the body coloration of it. Whether it had been bred from a mutation with gray geese or from enthusiast imported stock from Europe is uncertain.
American Buff Goose Characteristics
American Buff goose is a medium-sized breed having a beautiful color. The buff-colored feathers on the sides and back of it are edged with creamy white color.

The abdomen of these birds is nearly white. Their feet and charge are of orange to reddish-orange. Along with the tricky nail at the tip of the bill is really a pale pink in coloration.
Their eyes are of color. During laying eggs, or if green grass is not available, their legs may be of fade to pink color. Their throat is of moderate length with feathers. They have a luminous body with little or no signs of a keel, a slightly arched back, and 2 curved lobes that are fatty on the stomach.
The geese on typical lay about 15 to 25 eggs per year.
The average adult body weight of the American Buff ganders is around 8.2 kg. And the older geese on average weight around 7 kg.
It might have developed from buff mutations in flocks of geese, or it might have elegant from buff stock imported from Europe.
The American Buff goose is well-known for its relatively calm nature, and the strain is of docile temperament. These birds are good parents and take care of their goslings.
Their good behaviour make them perfect for general functions. The strain is great for both meat and egg production.
The farmers chiefly raise the strain, and it’s famous for it’s calm and docile mood. Today it is an extremely infrequent poultry strain, also is listed as crucial on the conservation priority list of the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy.
The American Buff goose breed can also be contained in Slow Food USA’s Ark of Taste at risk of extinction.
At the year of 1947, the breed was initially recognized by the American Poultry Association. And entered the British Waterfowl Standards much later in 1982.
