The Belgian cows are great for both meat and milk production. But they are great for using as a draught animal.

It was developed in the cattle breeds, Veurne-Ambacht and Cassel of the area. Those breeds came throughout the First World War in Belgium into extinction.
Pasture of all West Flanders was turned throughout the war that eradicated this breed’s population. And in collaboration, the breeders came together following the war to produce a new breed. Along with the very first book for the strain was released in 1920.
The strain is located during Flanders and comprises about 7% of the national herd that was. People of the cattle were roughly 50,000 in 1986. However, their population decreased and there were left in the world in 2001. Today the breed is considered at risk of extinction.
