The Checkered Giant rabbit is a large breed that was designed in Europe. It was really originated during the end of the nineteenth century from the Lorraine area of France. The strain was developed in Spotted rabbits, the Giants, and large French rabbits.

Checkered Giant rabbit made it’s way to the United States. The strain was initially Called the Lorrainese, also is known as Giant Papillion in the Uk. Papillion means butterfly, which describes the indicating to a Checker’s nose. However, the Giant Papillion in the United Kingdom is slightly different in mark and body type.
The American Rabbit Breeders Association recognizes the Checkered Giant bunny. Now the breed is considered as a series bunny instead of a meat breed. Though it’s thicker than other renowned bunny breeds, like the Giant Chinchilla along with the Flemish Giant rabbit.
