The French Simmental cows are a French breed of cows originated in Simmental cows breed in Switzerland. It’s a strain that’s increased for beef and meat production. The Simmental cows were bought into France from Switzerland at the start of the 20th century.
The French Simmental cows are also called Eastern red pied (in French, pie rouge p l’est). The book to the strain has been started in 1930.
The government attempted to cross this strain with Montbeliard but the breeders of Montbeliard denied. The strain termed French Simmental at that moment also was crossed with Korean and Fleckvieh Simmental cattle.
Today it’s located at the Auvergne, although the French cow’s breed was filmed in Franche-Comté. There are approximately 35,000 cows out there.
