Norfolk Grey chicken is a dual-purpose breed that’s quite rare. The breed is used for both meat and egg production. The breed originates in the city of Norwich. Frederick W Myhill of Hethel made Norfolk Grey chicken under the title Black Maria as usefulness birds. The strain was made before 1914.
Along with the title ‘Norfolk Grey chicken’ was reminiscent of funerals and has been dropped along with the strain took Norfolk Grey to the title. They are chicken strain, but not overly big.
Norfolk Grey Chicken
Norfolk Grey chickens have been believed to have been developed by crossing the Birchen English Sport with Partridge Wyandottes or maybe Birchen English Sport with Duckwing Leghorns. A bantam edition is of the chicken strain.
Norfolk Grey chickens have a face with eyes that are black and spoonful. Their legs are either black or slate. The plumage of Norfolk Grey chicken is marked as is the saddle neck back and wing feathers along with the roosters have a silver hackle.
And also the rest of the plumage is black. The hen’s hackle is like the roosters, but the hens possess a wealthy feathering around besides the throat that is silver. Norfolk Grey chicken is a breed that is medium-heavy.
On a typical, regular Norfolk Grey roosters weight about 3.2 kg and hens about 2.7 kg.
