The Marten rabbit is a national breed of rabbit that was designed in the USA. The strain was developed as an offshoot from the Chinchilla rabbit in the mid-1920s. The’Silver Marten’ is the name of a breed and a shade.
The strain came and subsequently was used to present the color as a variety in a number of breeds. Breeders of Chinchilla rabbits, even a breed as Conservation Priority List, also tried to enhance Chinchilla rabbit’s color and pattern by introducing tan and black bloodlines.

The Marten rabbit is a medium-sized breed. The soft fur is their features. The coat of an adult Silver Marten rabbit has a shiny look with superbly markings.
The most common Black Silver martin variety observed at shows has a superb contrast between it is polished black coat as well as also the silver-white markings of its ears and underbelly.

And the Sable Silver Marten is common. They are of moderate sepia brown color. Their face, tail, ears, out of their feet and lower thighs are extremely dark sepia brown (almost black).
Silver Marten is a moderate-sized rabbit breed and their normal body fat is between 2.9 and 3.9 kg when fully grown.
